SOCCER - Former KCC FC assistant coach Abdallah Mubiru has been asked to guide the Makerere Business School (MUBS) soccer team during the forthcoming East African University Games next month. The Nakawa-based students started training on Thursday evening. The regional games will be hosted at Kyambogo University with 25 universities competing.

Scrabble to hold qualifiers

THE Scrabble Association of Uganda will hold a World Championship qualifier on January 24 at Nakasero SS. SAU will use the same occasion to elect a new executive. Current chairman Chris Ntege recently revealed that he wouldn’t seek another term because of other pressing commitments.The world meet is set for November in Las Vegas. Competitors are required to pay sh10,000 to compete.

Mbarara picks new team

CORPORATE LEAGUE - Coca Cola’s Asaph Tumuhimbise has retained the chairmanship of the Mbarara Corporate league while Parambot distillers’ George Mugisha was elected his vice-president. Ronald Humura of Vision Group was elected Publicity Secretary while Patrick Kabatereine (Radio West) is secretary and Barclays bank’s Apollo Byarugaba is the Finance manager.
