KCC FC has been thrown in panic after a squad of 23 entered camp without Rwandan defender Umar Hitmana and Asuman Buyinza.

The duo, who are part of the KCC players’ list sent to CAF, vanished a day before the team entered camp at National Council of Sports hostel at Lugogo on Tuesday.

The Ugandan champions are preparing for their Africa Champions League preliminary round first leg match away to Ferroviaro de Maputo on January 31.

Buyinza is linked with a move to Tusker FC where he intends to link up with former teammate Nathan Mutenza, who joined the Kenyan champions last month while Hitmana’s whereabouts are not known to the officials.

KCC head coach George Nsimbe confirmed the disappearance of the players saying that they had left a huge gap in his defence.

“I don’t know where they are but we have to respond quickly and fill the gap,” Nsimbe said.

Disappearance of the players is the latest in twists after the resignation of assistant coach Godfrey Mugisha as the team prepares for their first Champions League campaign in three decades.

* Super Division Clubs Association (SDCA) has called for improvement in performance of referees after a recent wave of controversial decisions.

SDCA resolved to write to the Uganda Super League Committee USLC) calling on the body to re-access referees who handle matches of the premier event.

The clubs body noted in a meeting yesterday that many referees’ performance has deteriorated since the second round of the league started.

“There are a lot of complaints against referees in the second round,” SDCA and USLC member Livingstone Lajan complained at the meeting.

The meeting, chaired by SDCA boss Godfrey Kisekka, cited the KCC v Boroboro and Bunamwaya v Kinyara matches.

SDCA members noted that referees made questionable decisions in the two matches triggering protests from the fans.

At the Bunamwaya game, Police fired in the air as fans protested a decision by FIFA referee Fred Mufta.
