KCC FC and SC Villa battled for wins in the Uganda Super League as they maintained a two-point difference on the table yesterday.

The league champions held on to Brian Umony’s 38th minute strike to beat Bugerere 1-0 in Nkokonjeru.
Relegation threatened Bugerere created scoring chances but their team captain Gibriel Kamoga failed to find the net on two separate occasions.

At Namboole, Augustine Nsumba notched a brace - his first goals since rejoining the team at the beginning of the second round – as Villa fought from a goal down to win 3-1 against bottom-of-the-table Kakira.

Edgar Luzige had given Kakira a first half lead but Andrew Nkurunungi restored parity for coach Sula Kato’s would be first loss in the round.

“They are fighting relegation so they were rough but my players regained in the last quarter of the game. I’m happy we won,” Kato said after the match.

There was an upset at Nakivubo with Adam Yiga scoring as Mbarara United ended Bunamwaya’s 18-match unbeaten run with a 1-0 defeat.

Referee Mushood Ssali dismissed Bunamwaya goalkeeper Hamza Muwonge for foul outside the box on Twaha Sendi in the tense game that had Mbarara leap out of the drop zone. Nalubaale did not play because Youfra failed to show up at Buikwe.

FUFA Competitions Committee has, meanwhile, rescheduled Kakungulu Cup matches involving Villa, URA, Express and Simba that were due on Saturday to attract fans to the CAF Champions League match between KCC and Mozambican side Ferroviario on the same day.

Express was due to host Villa in a grudge quarterfinal match at Wankulukuku, URA were to travel to Maroons while Simba would entertain Bunamwaya in Bombo.
