KAMPALA - Makerere University College of Health Sciences is to conduct a two-year study on how to improve health research, personnel training and service delivery. “Uganda is faced with shortage of skilled health workers. The initiative will strengthen our capacity to train medical professionals,” said George Pariyo, the head of the health policy, planning and management department. The study is to be financed by a $4.9m (sh9b) grant from the Bill and Mellinda Gates Foundation.

Govt intensifies malaria fight

KAMPALA - The Government’s efforts to control malaria continue, the health ministry has said. Dr. Nathan Kenya-Mugisha, the director for clinical services, said the Government had continued internal residual spraying using a chemical called ICON after court stopped the use of DDT.
