THE First Lady, Janet Museveni, has hailed Centenary Bank for helping the poor access financial services. “I am pleased with your services.

“I request you to open more branches in remote areas so that women groups can get access to loans to improve their standard of living,” she said.

This was during the opening of the Ntungamo branch. Prof. Ddumba Ssentamu, the board chairman, said the bank was to open branches in Jinja, Bwaise, Masindi and Mubende this year, bringing to 36 their branch network across the country.

“Our customers can bank and withdraw, receive and send money at any of these branches,” he said. He said the bank was the third largest in terms of branch network with 700,000 customers and about 90,000 borrowers . It employs over 1,200 people. “Our aim is to improve people’s livelihoods through poverty eradication packages.”
