Other items given included 800 mosquito nets that were distributed to four health centres and households with children under five years. A total of 540 bags of improved maize, beans and several hoes were given to persons living with HIV/Aids. The regional programme officer in charge of health care, Hellen Mukundane Kataha, told the beneficiaries not to sell the items.

APAC-Farmers in Chegere sub-county have received over 2,000 seedlings of grafted mangoes worth sh13m from the National Agricultural Advisory Services (NAADS) programme. Addressing beneficiaries at the sub-county headquarters last Friday, the programme coordinator, Anna Grace Akite, said 100 farmers in demonstration groups would receive the perennial crop. “With a mango juice factory being constructed in the sub-county, we expect a ready lucrative market,”she said. Akite said the improved mangoes can resist drought and diseases and matured fast.
