FLAVIA Namakula, playing off handicap five, carded a noteworthy seven under par 65 to win the MTN March Mug at Uganda Golf Club on Saturday.

Namakula, who went into the event two strokes behind Jasper Kamukama, claimed the women’s Quarterly Mug as well with an aggregate of 209 nett got over the last three months.

Namakula shot 73 nett in January, carded 71 in February before crowning it all with 65 in the March show.

The Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) golfer won herself a blackberry phone loaded with sh0.1m MTN airtime.

Namakula, who arrived at Kitante just 10 minutes to her tee off time, defied an injured shoulder to shoot her career best score.

“I should have even played better but I got a double-bogey. I will work hard to maintain this kind of form,” Namakula remarked after picking up her prize.

In the professional event, Gerald Ayella with 139 finished top in the March Mug but it was Akope who won the Quarterly Mug having accumulated MOREpoints in the previous two months.
