A VISITING team from the European Union has said there is need to intensify the fight against corruption to enhance development.

“The fight against corruption needs a concerted effort. It needs the media, community and government monitoring agencies,” Taylor East Claudia, the team leader, told journalists at the Kampala Serena Hotel on Friday.

Claudia noted that if unchecked, corruption would hinder the achievement of the millennium development goals by 2015.

The team comprised non-governmental organisation officials and journalists from Malta, Hungary, Slovenia, Estonia, Cyprus and Romania.
