URA might have not been in the spotlight but the fact is that the tax collectors are enjoying a very good run.

Moses Basena’s side has gone 12 matches unbeaten in a run that last week saw them beating Youfra away to surge past champions KCC to the Super League top.

The 2007 champions deleted defeat from their menu as far back as November.

They have since only lost points in draws with SC Villa and Sharing.

That URA have taken charge after a series of injuries, says a lot about their strength in depth.

Towering goalkeeper Abbey Dhaira has been one of the notable absentees.

He is yet to recover from an injury sustained with the Cranes during the CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup in January.

Basena attributes the good run to consistence.

“When all players realise that they are not only important, but also appreciated, the effect in most cases is good results.”

Martin Muwanga leads the URA’s score sheet with nine goals followed by Patrick Ochan.

The attack is receiving solid support from midfield gem Manko Kaweesa.

But whether URA can regain the title will be known over the next month where they face severe test from strong opposition.

They are yet to take on Nalubaale, Simba, Express, Victors, Kinyara and Bunamwaya.

Basena is however not shaken by the remaining opponents.

“We shall take them on as they come.”

KCC have an opportunity to regain the lead when they host Mbarara today in one of the two fixtures postponed from last month.

The other match has the Jogoos travelling to Masindi on Wednesday for a date with Kinyara.

Today’s match will serve as the Lugogo side’s last build-up to Friday’s CAF Champions League tie with Sudan’s El Merriekh in Kampala.
