China breaks racial barriers
- The volleyball-playing son of a South African father and Chinese mother is being heralded as the first “black” athlete to play top level sport in China, media reports said Tuesday. Ding Hui, 19, was named in China’s national volleyball team this week and is expected to be key to the nation’s drive towards the London 2012 Olympics. Ding was raised in east China’s Hangzhou city and is a driving force on the Zhejiang provincial team.

Semo prepares for Friday battle
- FORMER IBF Inter-continental light welterweight champion Peter “Boyz Boyz” Semo will attempt to dethrone Italian WBA champion Brunet Zamora this Friday in Venezia, Italy. “This challenge has come early and we have been pushing for it. Now is the moment for us to reclaim glory in the ring,” Eddie Bazira, Semo’s manager and promoter said.
The Ugandan fighter is based in Stockholm.

No venue yet
- With just two weeks left to the national schools basketball championships, the organisers, National Schools Basketball Association (NASBA) are not yet sure of the venue. This comes after a misunderstanding between NASBA and the secondary schools sports association. NASBA had named Nabisunsa as hosts of this year’s edition but the national secondary schools sports body named Manjasi High.
