THE race for the Super League title is close and the least domestic football would want to witness is its finest referees cracking at the intensity of the title run-in.

Defending champions KCC’s 2-2 draw with Police at Nakivubo on Wednesday was marred by controversy.

FIFA referee Mohammad Segonga was criticised by fans and players for permitting a Police free-kick that resulted into a 2-2 equaliser, despite watching KCC defender Ausi Kaya collapse in the 18-yard area after he was fouled seconds before it was taken.

Villa and URA will start their last six games worried.

“It hurts to drop crucial points under careless circumstances from match officials. We want to have an interesting race and the referees should play their part,” demanded Villa coach Sula Kato.
