THE headmaster of Buwenge Modern Secondary School in Jinja district has been charged with forgery, reports Charles Kakamwa.
Samuel Kirenda Isabirye, who is also the director of the school, and Robert Mukembo, a teacher in Butagaya sub-county, denied the charges before Chief Magistrate Cissy Mudhasi last week.

Prosecution alleged that the two and others on the run, in April issued forged Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) results to 13 students who sat for their O’level examinations at the school in 2006.
Mukembo, however, caused laughter when he told court that he did not understand English.

Mudhasi relied: “Your particulars show that you are a secondary school teacher. How do you communicate with your students?”

The accused were granted a cash bail of sh2m, while their sureties Dennis Wanjuba and Julius Tenywa, had to pay a non-cash bond of sh2m.

Isabirye also appeared before Magistrate Esther Nansambu and was charged with malicious damage of property.

He was accused of breaking two digital cameras. The cameras belonged to journalists who tried to take his photograph on August 18.
Isabirye denied the charges and was released on bail.

He will re-appear in court on September 11 for another hearing.
