ORIENT Bank has entered into a partnership with Coinstar Money Transfer to offer money transfer services in Uganda.

ORIENT Bank has entered into a partnership with Coinstar Money Transfer to offer money transfer services in Uganda.

David Muwanga reports that Coinstar Money Transfer, formerly Travelex Money Transfer, operates in over 125 countries worldwide.

The service is one of the several offered by Coinstar, a multinational based in Seattle in the US.

“Although one does not need to have an account with Orient Bank, special facilities are given to account holders because the money can be sent or received directly through their accounts,” Shamsher Khemani, the Orient Bank chief executive officer, explained.

He said the service was in line with the bank’s strategic plans to introduce innovative products announced early this year. It will enable customers to send as low as sh10,000, Khemani disclosed.

“We have successfully launched a dollar savings account, Internet and mobile/sms banking. The new service will facilitate our customer transfer money anywhere in the world at the shortest time,” Khemani said.

“The biggest advantage of transferring money through Coinstar is the minimum charges and the option of transferring any amount of money,” he added.
