KASESE-The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) has started a programme to protect Mt. Rwenzori National Park. Simon Akweteireho, the park’s senior warden, said the policy would mobilise the public to support conservation efforts at the park. The two-year programme will be implemented through dance and drama, as well as direct sensitisation of the local communities by environmental conservation groups.

Poverty funds for sub-counties

KIBAALE-The Boona Bagaggawale programme will be implemented through the sub-county Integrated Development Associations (SIDA). This was revealed by the chief administrative officer, Dunstan Balaba, while addressing journalists at the district headquarters last week. He said the agreement was reached after the State Minister of Microfinance, Gen. Salim Saleh, said if the programme was not integrated with SIDA, all SACCOs will not access the funds until 2009.
