THE Archbishop of Kampala Archdiocese, the Rt. Rev. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga, has urged Christians to love and care for the needy. Lwanga also asked the Christians to strengthen their faith and have hope in everything good.

He was addressing mourners during the requiem mass of Rev. Fr. David Rhocus Kasole at Kiyinda Cathedral in Mityana district on Friday.

Fr. Kasole,66, died last week at the archbishop’s residence in Lubaga, where he has been living since he suffered a stroke three-and a-half years ago.

He was the proprietor of St. Joseph Community in Kiyinda, Mityana Diocese.

The project runs St. Joseph Kiganda primary and secondary schools that cater for the needy, especially orphans and the unprivileged children. The schools are located in Kiboga district.

The Bishop Emeritus of Kiyinda-Mityana Diocese, Joseph Mukwaya, urged the Christians to emulate the life of Fr. Kasole.

The diocesan Vicar General, Lawrence Mukasa, described Fr. Kasole as ‘a person of the people.’

“He dedicated his life to the needy. He has been carrying other peoples’ cross so that they could have a better life.”

Thousands of people who included government officials, Members of Parliament and religious leaders attended the service.

Margaret Zziwa Nantongo, the MP for the East African Legislative Assembly said: “If it wasn’t for Fr. Kasole, I would not be what I am! He guided my parents and I. He also counselled me and helped me with school fees.

“He has done the same to thousands of people in the country. It will be difficult to have another person like him.”

Kasole was buried at Kiyinda Cathedral.
