THE National Agriculture Advisory Services (NAADS) has been stopped due to failure to achieve its objectives. Districts were supposed to co-fund the programme and also supervise its activities, but most of them failed. So both the NAADS Secretariat and the districts should be blamed for the failure of the programme.
Kisekka Market sale not illegal
Traders in Kisekka Market have been demonstrating over the award of a tender to manage the market to another group of traders. However, having looked at the procedure followed before the tender was awarded; this time, KCC followed the right channels. They discussed the issue with the council and also contacted the Minister of Local Government, Maj. Gen. Kahinda Otafiire for advice. The traders should stop demonstrating and get back to work.
Set up plan to develop the north
The war in the north might have taken the region over 30 years backwards, but the floods might take the region another 20. I think the Government and the international community should set up a master plan to help the north. This is the only way the area can be saved from extinction.
Lugazi official wrong on prostitutes
Recently, I heard a senior official in Lugazi town council, saying prostitutes in the town should not be mishandled. I think such statements by leaders are wrong. Prostitutes give a bad image to the children and should not be shown any mercy.
Thanks for G/T compensation
The news that the Government has allocated sh25b for graduated tax compensation is welcome. Districts have been bankrupt since the compensation was replaced with the local service tax and hotel tax. Although the compensation is little, it is better than nothing.
