FRANK Gashumba (left), the man at the helm of the crusade to realise an operation for scarred Aisha Nabukeera (below), will not be sounding his call for public help to Nabukeera on CBS FM anymore.

Apparently, Gashumba was banned by the Mengo-based radio effective this week for attacking the Buganda government big wigs and dragging their names through the mud on air!

Trouble started brewing after Gashumba, an impassioned and candid speaker, was hosted on Manya Eddembe Lyo (know your rights), a programme presented by Matia Lwanga Bwanika and sponsored by Human Rights Initiative, every Sunday evening between 8:00pm and 9:00pm.

Several callers quizzed him about the delay in Nabukeera’s departure for the USA where her operation is slated to take place. Gashumba explained that they had only collected sh22m out of the required sh53m for a year-round ticket, accommodation and meals for him, Nabukeera’s mom and the girl herself.

The operation will be undertaken free-of-charge by the Shriners Burns Hospital for Children in Texas, USA. He attributed the delay to respected personalities who had pledged, but were reluctant to pay up. Pressed by angry callers to reveal the names of these people, Gashumba fired away.

He revealed that the air ticket for Nabukeera, which Hon. Kaddu Kiberu (a director at CBS FM) had pledged, was yet to come his way. Snoops say a lot of heads rolled after the show. Gashumba was called up on Monday morning by CBS FM management and summarily informed he was free to conduct any other business with the station but not Nabukeera-related issues.

Nabukeera has until November 10, before the hospital offer for her free operation expires.
