TWO people, among them a Police officer, yesterday won sh1.1m as the Cashlines game closed on Sunday.

Onyango Onono, the Police officer, received sh300, 000, while Farouk Nyombi of Mbuya, Kampala, walked away with sh800,000.

Their cash prizes followed the publishing of all the winning numbers since the beginning of the game in the Sunday Vision of September 3.

The prizes, given away by the sales and promotions executive, Rhona Kanabahita, at The New Vision head office in Kampala, brought the amount of money given out so far to sh7m.

“I am overjoyed. This is good. New Vision should keep it up,” said Onono, who has been reading The New Vision since its inception.
Onono, attached to the Special Branch of the Police, declared that he would use the money to pay tuition fees for his daughter currently at Uganda Christian University, Mukono.

He added that his favourite section in the newspaper is agriculture news.

Nyombi, 22, who makes documentaries, said he would use the money to make a documentary about people in Northern Uganda.

“This is great. I can now accomplish my projects,” Nyombi said, as Kanabahita handed him the wad of notes.

He said he would focus on the returnees, who are getting back to their homes from camps following two decades of insurgency.

Nyombi, who works with Kezzi Entertainment, reads The New Vision daily and enjoys entertainment and foreign news.

A total of sh13m is still up for grabs, Kanabahita said, adding that a grand draw, in which all cash prizes would be given out, is to be held on October 11.

She urged readers to send game cards with all the 28 tokens to the company headquarters in Kampala before October 7.

Cards can posted through the New Vision address of P.O.BOX 9815 Kampala, dropped at the advertising office along Parliament Avenue in Kampala or agents’ offices countrywide.

Sales and marketing manager Tony Glencross thanked the readers for their participation.

“We thank readers for participating and for the continued support to the company by buying newspapers.”
