UTODA lacks ethics

EDITOR—I read with dismay the story about a taxi driver who ran over a traffic policewoman after she had tried to stop him. So many cases of hooliganism and indiscipline have been reported about taxi drivers and touts but UTODA has never released any statement condemning them!

The public has looked on helplessly as taxi drivers drive under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

UTODA as the regulating and governing body of taxi owners and drivers does not seem to have any guidelines or code of ethics for its members!

Taxi drivers have the courage to insult and rob their passengers over and over again simply because there is no penalty and they are their own masters! UTODA should remember that they work with people and a high level of discipline and public relations is essential. UTODA must address these problems.
