Walking for the queen

BUSIA-A team of 500 youth will walk 300km from Busia to Kampala, starting November 3. Speaking at Blue Africa Restaurant in Kampala last week, Geoffrey Ayeni, the president of Charity Walters’s Club, said: “The youth will trek about 40km per day for at least seven days.” The walk is aimed at welcoming the Queen for the Commonwealth meeting due next month. The former state minister for health, Mike Mukula, will flag off the youth at the town council grounds.

Police tipped on buildings

KAPCHORWA-Police commanders have been urged to maintain the buildings within their stations. A commissioner, Elizabeth Muwanga, said this would minimise budgetary expenses by the Government. She made the call while handing over a sh400m office block at the district Police headquarters, built by the justice, law and order sector.
