KCC FC has over the years earned the dubious reputation of all-potential but no-achievement. The 1997 league champions have failed to live up to their own high expectations in the domestic league for a decade now.

So, while Coach Moses Basena’s arrival at the club has raised expectations at Lugogo, the former Simba tactician’s primary task against Victors today will be to try and craft a winning start that will convince the Lugogo faithful that this could probably be their season.

“It’s what we want. To start with victory and maintain that,” Basena said.

Last season’s failure prompted an overhaul of the squad, with Jamil Kyambadde, Robert Ssentongo and Vincent Kayizzi, being brought in to strengthen the side.

KCC though are unlikely to have three of their pre-season signings. Kyambadde has been down with malaria, while Ssentongo and Kayizzi are yet to secure clearance.

Victors will hand Jackson Baruku the massive task of justifying the fact that there is still life at the club even after the departure of Yuda Mugalu. “He is our main striker and will be asked to hunt for the goals,” coach Sula Kato said.
