TOP seed Duncan Mugabe will be the center of attraction when the ITF/East Africa U-18 tennis cicuit swings into action today at Lugogo courts, writes Phillip Corry.

The South Africa based player is the circuit’s top seed and will have to battle a galaxy of several youth tennis players from all over the world who converge in Kampala after playing the first leg in Bujumbura, Burundi.

The qualifiers start today followed by the main draw.

However, this depends on whether there is a necessity to play a qualifying round, according to Peter Tyaba, the tournament referee.

Sher Kaylea, from South Africa, is the top seed in the girls draw.
Uganda’s other participants in the junior tennis tournament include Richard Semanda, Stephen Komakech, David Oringa, Joan Namutebi and Tabitha Nankya.

The Ugandan leg is sponsored by Brussels Airlines who have offered $10,000(sh17.9m) to the tennis association.
