SAINT Vincentian international soca star Kevin Lyttle, is finally in town. The star, who is popular for his mega hit, Turn Me On arrived in the country on Wednesday night.

Lyttle jetted in with his band- comprising of his manager, sound engineer, DJ and back up artistes. He makes his maiden visit to Uganda courtesy of Sleek Promotions International, an entertainment company, in association with Celtel. He, however, toured neighbouring Tanzania alongside our own Ngoni and Congo’s Kofi Olomide earlier this year.

First to have a piece of him were 30 City Beat magazine fans, who rubbed shoulders with the star last night at the Meet and Greet Kevin Lyttle party held at Club Sway on Kampala Road.

Yesterday, he also visited The New Vision offices in industrial area and was hosted on the newest radio station in town, Vision Voice 94.8FM.

Lyttle will perform at two concerts during his five-day stay. His fans can catch the action live tonight at Kati Kati Bar and Restaurant in Lugogo for sh25,000 and sh50,000 for the VIP stands.

On Sunday, Lyttle will head to Resort Beach in Entebbe, for another show, which will set revellers back by sh10,000 for adults and sh3,000 for children and students with identification.

Sleek Promotions’ Bills Mboijana said both shows will feature Kenya’s DNA, whose hit single, Banjuka is a major club banger in Kampala. And to keep fans closer to home, many Ugandan artistes will also curtain raise at the show.

Lyttle was born Lescott Kevin Lyttle Combs 31 years ago in Saint Vincent. His biggest hit is Turn Me On, which Lyttle did with another Saint Vincentian soca star, Spragga Benz.

First recorded in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines in 2001, it was Lyttle’s live performances of Soca influenced by dancehall and RnB that made the song a huge hit in the Caribbean.

Turn Me On found its way into UK nightclubs, and was released as a single there in 2003, hitting the number two spot in its first week. The song spent seven weeks in the Top Ten of the UK singles chart.

The song later reached number 11 in Finland and number 3 in Australia; and was a hit in more 12 European countries.
The success of this song earned Lyttle a deal with Atlantic Records, the company which he signed for in 2003.

Not bad for the singer who had subsisted as being a customs officer and a radio disc jockey.
