EDITOR—I am a customer of Finance Trust (FT). On Monday, I went to one of the branches in Wakiso district to withdraw some money which someone had deposited for me from Mbarara. I spent about two hours there with the staff telling me that they could not give me the money because of a network problem in Mbarara.

As I was waiting, I saw a notice on the wall with the following words: “Customer Service Helpline. Are we serving you well? We would like to hear from you. Please call 0751932900. Chief Executive officer, Mathias Katamba”.

That impressed me. I decided to call him to voice my concern over the network problem that was eating into the precious time of the customers. But, alas, this is the response I got: “The number you have called is not allocated on the Zain network”!

I couldn’t believe my ears considering the fact that this very number is pinned in all FT branches countrywide. After three hours of waiting, the bank closed and I moved out without my money. FT, kindly give us a customer service helpline that is at least registered on one of the many telephone networks Uganda?
