NRM dominates Jinja polls

THE National Resistance Movement (NRM) candidates have won most of the posts in the just-concluded by-elections in Jinja district.

THE National Resistance Movement (NRM) candidates have won most of the posts in the just-concluded by-elections in Jinja district.

Charles Kimunyo took the Mafubira sub-county seat, while Rose Mukama won the district woman councillor seat.

Other NRM victors were Afisa Njuki (Nalufenya woman), Charles Manana (Lubaga parish), Annet Muzaale Wako (Kimaka woman) and Patrick Bijja (Kimaka parish).

James Hamba of the Forum for Democratic Change took the Buyengo sub-county seat.

Independent candidate Sula Sentongo won the Bugembe town council seat, while Yakut Tenywa took the Mafubira A council seat.

Mwajabu Namugosa, Shamirah Namutamba, Gertrude Bawira and Robert Kakaire were also elected Bugembe town councillors.
