FOUR companies have submitted bids to refurbish Lugogo Indoor stadium, National Council of Sports announced yesterday.

The firms are Seyani Brothers International, Soleco Constructions Limited, Interior Technologies and Cementers Construction Company.

The council’s general secretary Jasper Aligawesa said that Ridge Consulting Limited was been invited to vet the bidders.

“The quantity surveyor (Ridge Consulting) will pick the best bidder and work will then start,” Aligawesa said.

The facelift, funded by MTN Foundation, was due to start at the beginning of the year but was delayed due to fluctuation of prices of construction materials.

Refurbishment will include both the interior and exterior of the roof, windows, drainage and the floor which will all be branded with MTN colours. A computerised scoreboard will also be installed.

MTN Foundation has injected sh700m in the refurbishment that will see the stadium renamed the MTN Indoor stadium.

MTN and the Council reached an agreement in June last to renamed the facility until 2018.

The Lugogo facility can host boxing, volleyball, netball, basketball, badminton and hockey plus other games as well as social and religious events.
