MASAKA - Shock gripped residents when a Rwandan refugee believed to be a former Hutu militiaman was found hanging dead in the Police detention cells. The southern regional Police spokesperson, Noah Sserunjongi, identified the deceased as Ismael Muchunguzi, 25, from Nakivale Refugee Camp in Isingiro district. Muchunguzi was detained on June 9 with 30 bullets in Lwengo sub-county.

KAYUNGA - The Adventist women in Mukono zone have donated items worth sh4m to Kayunga Hospital. Handing over the items on Thursday, the zone chairperson, Pauline Muluuta, said the donation was part of preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. “As we carry out evangelism, we should also accompany it by giving to those in need because many people believe through actions like giving.â€
Fire destroys Nsotoka centre
KAYUNGA - Fire on Saturday gutted four shops at Nsotoka trading centre, destroying items worth millions of shillings. The LC1 chairperson, Yokosofaati Kisaala, said the inferno could have been caused by an electric fault in one of the shops. “Rescuers looked on helplessly because they lacked the capacity to stop the fire from spreading to other shops,†he said.
