A traditional healer has said two men requested him to kill a woman over a debt. Mulangira Ssimbwa Ben, alias ‘Gulu’ told the Police that on June 16, Charles Katabazi, a resident of Ggaba-Busabala landing site and Steven Katongole, a resident of Kalatu-Mubende, asked him to take the life of Aisha Nasande, alias Grace, who also works at Ggaba. According to Ssimbwa, Katongole said he lent sh2.4m to Nasande in February last year, but she did not repay the money. The district Police crime chief, Godfrey Emojong, said they had arrested Katongole and appealed for information on Nasande’s whereabouts.

MPs summon Somali leaders
- KAMPALA
Parliament’s equal opportunities committee has summoned Somali community leaders residing in Uganda over allegations of female genital mutilation. This was after Kampala Woman MP Nabilah Ssempala (FDC) said she had received complaints from the public about the practice among the Somali. “The Somali are still practicing female genital mutilation despite the government’s efforts to eliminate it. We need to sensitise them.” Committee chairperson Anifa Kawoya (NRM) said they would also meet the affected girls.
