EDITOR—The rate at which pornography is entrenching itself in the lives of Ugandans is amazing. I would like to know whether parliament has thought of formulating a law to curb this fast growing evil. Pornography is leading to uncontrollable moral decadence in the country.

Pornographic literature, films and shows branded ‘nude dancing’ were rarely heard of in the past. Today pornography is a normal activity which seems to bother no one! The ‘principle’ is, “I live my life as I please”! Children have not remained unscathed!

They watch different programmes on television ranging from music videos, to films and the worst of these are the so- called soaps. The very worst of these is perhaps the fact that all the city streets are filled and polluted with pornographic material. All one needs to do is to pay sh1,000 and walk away with a video disc whose content is only pornography. Take a walk around the city streets and you will see what I mean.

Not only will you find pornographic material on display but you will find adult and supposedly responsible men buying either pornographic literature or video discs without shame! I know our constitution provides for the freedom of the press and the right to information. However, such rights should not be abused.
