THE Indian Association of Uganda will this year spend sh250m as sponsorship for the heart surgery of 10 children at the Narayana Hrudalaya Hospital in Bangalore, India, reports Kiganda Ssonko.

“Last year, we sponsored six child heart patients to the same hospital and they returned successfully. This year, we have decided to take 10 children. We are calling parents or guardians who cannot afford such operations outside the country to apply so that we give a helping hand,” the association’s chairman, Naren Mehta said in Kampala.

He said the children to be considered must be below 10 years of age and needy. “This is a chance for poor Ugandans. Those with the potential are not expected to apply. It makes a lot of meaning for the poor ones,” Mehta argued.
