EMBATTLED president of domestic table tennis governing body UTTA, Emmanuel Matsyetsye, will be forced to restructure his administration after four key officials quit, questioning his style of management. First to jump ship early this year was his vice-chairperson Monica Kisakye.

Kisakye left after demands for an executive meeting and an assembly of the body were ignored.

Publicity secretary James Kiyimba, technical committee head George Iga and head of umpires Wilberforce Kayongo have also resigned.

“I have chosen to resign from the post of vice-chairperson of UTTA,” Kisakye said in a January 8, 2009 letter.

“I love working with straight people to keep my integrity in check.

“It was nice working with you and I still remain a table tennis player.”

Kisakye’s problems stemmed from her request to have minutes of a general assembly supposedly held by Matsyetsye without the knowledge of the rest of the executive.

Kiyimba abandoned his duties as publicity secretary saying he was being undermined.

National coach Jude Mutete has been playing the role of association secretary and spokesman.

At the same time, Kayongo said: “There is no way you can serve on the executive when you do not meet to discuss issues. The executive is only made up of four people who will accept everything from the president.”

Currently Ronald Andira, Jonathan Waisadha and Mutete run the association alongside Matsyetsye.

Matysetye has dismissed all the allegations, and said that clubs that can’t wait for the general assembly to vote him out of office ‘should go and hang’.

Matysetse, who is accused by some players and clubs of misuse of office, said that he will call the assembly when his term expires as per constitution next year.

“I’m going nowhere, and those who think that they can throw me out illegally should hang themselves,” Matysetyse said.
Matysetyse was voted into office in July, 2007and his term is set to expire in July next year.

He said that he will continue his work with clubs that want development. He threatened to sue any person who illegally interferes with his term of office, adding that he was still within the limits of the three year constitutional term.

“I lost the elections twice, went back and reorganised my Tiger club; I didn’t fight anyone till I came back and won the elections,” Matysetyse advised.

He singled out Olympian Mary Musoke for fighting him.
