WATERFORD school won the Linda Country Club inter-schools swimming gala on Saturday, winning it for the second time since its inception two years ago.

WATERFORD school won the Linda Country Club inter-schools swimming gala on Saturday, winning it for the second time since its inception two years ago.

The Kyambogo-based school was in blistering form taking the boys and girls team events. They also won the boys and girls relays finishing the one-day event with 610 points.

St. Kizito were runners-up with 500, followed by Santa Lucia who collected 490.

The annual swimming gala, sponsored by Nico Insurance, attracted 16 schools from Kira Sub-County, Namugongo and Kireka areas.

The event that was scrapped from the Uganda Swimming Federation calendar, is meant to develop swimming in the area.

The nursery schools title was won by Kirinya Parents School with 210 points, while Kamuli Hill and Little Pony come second and third with 205 points each.

Last year’s winners Kireka Grammar won the boys’ breaststroke, freestyle and backstroke events with a total of 285 points. They finished seventh overall with 315 points.

The one day swimming gala held at Linda Country Club, attracted over 100 boys and girls.
