ABRAHAM Chepkirwok had his best season last year, but had nothing to take home save for a second finish in the IAAF athletics final.

His fight to leave an impression after winning a bronze medal at the World junior championships has been undermined by a series of injuries and over competing on the international circuit.

One of the consequencies was the let down at the Beijing Olympic Games where he failed to make it to the final, yet he was considered to be among the top runners expected to get to the final alongside the likes of Sudanese Abubaker Kaki.

To make matters worse, he has so far had a quiet season this time round, with his three appearances in the IAAF Grand Prix meetings and finishing outside the top three. His season’s best so far is 1:46.07 which he set in Athens two months back.

Whether he has decided to rest and wait for the big event on the world calendar or has been recovering from an injury, one fact is that he will be trying to avenge his world championship experience, which saw him finish 4th in the last edition in Osaka 2007.
