BUSIA-The youth want a review of employment policies. Stephen Onyango, the district youth leader, said many graduates had been denied jobs for lack of experience. Onyango was speaking on Saturday at Madibiria Primary School. Albert Wabudi, a youth leader, encouraged the youth to engage in income-generating activities to fight poverty.

More power in Kapchwora
KAPCHORWA-The Government has started extending a hydro electric power line worth sh1b to Kere District Agricultural Technical Information Centre in Kween county. Kween MP Dr. John Yeko said the project is implemented by the Rural Electrification Agency. It will benefit communities and institutions along the 14-mile power line. The work is funded under the 2009/2010 financial year budget.

Eskom launches AIDS policy
JINJA-Eskom workers on Friday took a break from generating electricity and went for voluntary HIV/AIDS counselling and testing with their families. The activity took place in Jinja town as the company officially launched its HIV/AIDS policy. Counsellors had sessions tackling issues like family planning, general hygiene and prevention of malaria. It was supported by the AIDS Information Centre.

RDC hails farmers
KAPCHORWA-Resident district commissioner Jane Frances Kuka has commended Kawacom, a firm dealing in organic coffee. The company mobilised over 500 farmers in a community hygiene and sanitation campaign. It dedicated the week to environmental protection activities like tree planting, slashing road reserves, cleaning health units and government offices.
