<b>Hundreds tested for HIV</b><br>SOROTI-Hundreds of people went for free voluntary counselling and testing for HIV/AIDS. This was conducted by The AIDS Support Organisation (TASO), during a week of its activities which ends on Saturday.

SOROTI-Hundreds of people went for free voluntary counselling and testing for HIV/AIDS. This was conducted by The AIDS Support Organisation (TASO), during a week of its activities which ends on Saturday. The exercise started with a walk led by the LC5 secretary for finance, Moses Edonu. TASO centre manager Beatrice Okware said poverty and unclear marrital status were among the causes for a rise of HIV/AIDS in the region.

Man held over cassava theft
TORORO-A man has appeared in court for stealing a sack of fresh cassava worth sh50,000 from a neighbour’s garden. Livingstone Otongo was arrested in Kisera village on the night of August 25. Otongo denied committing the offense when he appeared before Tororo Grade one magistrate Charles Wako. The magistrate remanded Otongo to Morukatipe Prison until September 15.
