HAKIM Magumba plans to remind domestic football of his good old days after completing his return to SC Villa later this week, reports Fred Kaweesi.

Villa coach Sula Kato has held talks with the mercurial midfielder about the possibility of him returning to Villa Park. And although no deal was agreed, it is understood that Villa were open-minded about the idea of offering the ‘Boda Boda’ a three-year contract as the 16-time league champions attempt to bring added experience to the Villa squad.

“I want to prove to everybody that I am not old as people think. I want to prove my abilities. I want to prove my critics wrong,” said the former Cranes midfielder, whose two-year deal with Rwandan club ATRACO expired several months ago.

“I promised that I would play here this season and Villa are first priority. My fans want me back and I will not disappoint. I know I am still good enough. I want to prove that.”

There is no doubt Villa possess some of the finest youngsters in the domestic league, but the Blues, who have already lost first team stars Steven Bengo and Emma Okwi to Tanzania, will need a few veterans to sustain their run in the Africa Confederations Cup.

The Blues have already shipped in Jonathan Aigbe, Hood Mayanja, Simon Sserunkuuma and Emma Marcus but one cannot assume the four youngsters will make that vital difference on the competitive continental football.

“I have watched Villa playing in pre-season, and I feel I can still help in many ways. I should start training soon,” Magumba added.

Magumba rocked Ugandan football in his four seasons (1998-2002) with Villa with his electric movement on-and-off the ball.
