IF you have not invested in a pair of Bermuda shorts, this is the time to do so.
The ‘short trousers’, usually have a straight or folded hem that cuts about an inch below the knee. The pants have so many names, including walking shorts, city shorts, knee-pants, or dress shorts.

Bermuda shorts should be fitting, not tight. Helen Kayemba of Nina’s Boutique says they come in many colours, commonly striped or checkered. The most sought after are the cotton ones.

“Bermuda shorts can be worn to work, or to the beach. They are a must-have for ladies because they are likely to remain fashoinable for a long time,” she says.

Bermuda shorts can be flattering, especially when paired with the right top and shoes. Kayemba says many women avoid wearing shorts because they do not know which ones flatter their bodies.

She says one can wear a dress top or tunic over the shorts, with a belt. When worn with stilettos, wedges, or high heels, they accentuate elegance. If you plan to wear Bermuda shorts to an evening function, it is better to wear them with high heels, while casual shoes are suitable for a daytime event.

Other best shoe styles for such shorts include sneakers and sandals. Sneakers or sandals with ankle straps can give the outfit a more feminine look. At a business function, one can wear the shorts with a jacket of the same shade.

You can appear casual and smart at the
workplace, if you match the shorts with a blazer that has a coordinating pattern. Bermuda shorts are on sale in most boutiques and markets at between sh5,000 and sh20,000.
