A Makerere University office attendant became the first winner of New Vision’s Cashlines game yesterday. Jasper Muhekyi, 46, of the Institute of Psychology, bagged sh50,000 on Monday, the day the game began.

Muhekyi, a father of four, yesterday received his prize at the company’s head office in Kampala.

Muhekyi said he bought the newspaper on Monday, with 11 numbers on Page Two. He successfully circled all the numbers on one of the horizontal cashlines, he said.

“I was so happy. I could not believe that I had won free money just like that.”

Muhekyi has been buying The New Vision daily since 1995. “The paper gives me current affairs in addition to guidelines on where my children can be educated,” he stated.

He said he would spend his money on more newspapers in which the numbers for the game are published daily. Almost sh20m is still up for grabs over the next three weeks.

The winning numbers are available daily in The New Vision and in Sunday Vision. The numbers in the advertisement which correspond with those on the game card should be circled.

Readers win once all the numbers on a horizontal cash-line have been circled. They receive the corresponding amount.

Tokens on the advert have to be pasted on the space at the back of the card. To claim a prize, call 0772439786 (Kampala), 0772354620 (Central), 0774357359 (East), 0782577430 (West) and in the north, 0772454711.

Sales chief Rhona Kanabahita urged readers to play aggressively, saying the more times one plays, the more chances of winning.
