JUSTICE Faith Mwondha is to hear a petition challenging the eligibility of the caretaker committee of the boxing governing body UABF.

In Civil Suit No.174 filed on September 1 at the High Court at Nakawa, former UABF vice presidents Ntege Ssengendo, Steven Achiga, secretary David Kyambadde and Vicky Byarugaba (members) sued Charles Egou, Sam Odong, Yusufu Mukoke and Haruna Mawanda (normalisation committee) for violating the UABF constitution.

They are also challenging the electoral process that brought the Godfrey Nyakana-led executive into office.

The petitioners want court to order the caretaker committee not to hand over power to the current UABF executive and nullify the August 29 election.

However, in their preliminary defence filed September 11, Egou and team want c the court to dismiss the petition with costs.
They argue that the petitioners have no locus standi (authority to sue) because they were not executive members of UABF as they claim.

The registrar is yet to fix a date for hearing since Justice Mwondha is presiding over a criminal session in Mubende.
