THE moment of truth is here for Joyce and Chris Church, the organisers of Miss Uganda. Running under the theme “Promoting Ugandan Beauty, Culture and Heritage”, the finale is on tomorrow evening at the Imperial Royale Hotel, Kampala.

In what she promises to be a spectacular evening, Joyce Church says the lucky lady to be crowned Miss Uganda will not only represent the country at the Miss World pageant on December 12, but will also raise awareness and funds for the people in northern Uganda who are recovering from a 20-year war.

She says the judges will be looking for presence, poise and the ability to speak well. The judges, flying in from Europe today include head judge Sola Oyebade (director of Mahogany Models in Europe), Uganda’s own Eva Mbabazi, Alan Crouch and Nana Lamptey.

They have been specially flown in to give impartiality to the whole process.
Church says the judges have vast experience with the beauty and modelling industry and will pick the best girl to represent Uganda, both locally and on the world platform.

The winner will also get an all expenses paid trip to London where she will get more training for Miss World 2009.

For the very first time, alongside Miss Uganda, there will be a Mr. Uganda pageant. There are 12 finalists participating. The winner will represent Uganda at the 2010 Mr. World contest in South Korea.

The show starts at 8:00pm and entry fee is sh20,000 and sh100,000 (VIP).
