EDITOR—The Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) is mandated to levy and collect tax for the Government. I am disappointed by the direction it is taking in relation to the recruitment of staff. In April, URA advertised a number of positions which included field officers, system supervisors, administrative assistants, office messengers and drivers.

All those who qualified were shortlisted but it is surprising that up to now they have never invited drivers and office messengers for oral interviews.

Six months have elapsed since these people were shortlisted! I request the URA to tell the public what went wrong and if the posts have been filled or are still vacant. The URA must have a very good reason for such a long delay and the public would like to hear the explanation.
