UGANDA’S pursuit for World Cup qualification has proved to be a distant dream down the years.

In fact, the country’s three previous decades of attempting to make an appearance at the world event and with it the priceless chance of holding the highly-coveted trophy, have been of heartbreak and sheer torment.

But thanks to Coca Cola, the world cup starved Ugandans will finally realize that cherished dream when the trophy arrives tomorrow.

President Yoweri Museveni will officially welcome the solid-gold trophy, Coca Cola Brand Manager Maggie Kigozi confirmed at a press briefing held at Serena Hotel yesterday.

“His Excellency Museveni will receive it,” Kigozi confirmed.

Kigozi added that because of the high level of interest that the trophy had attracted, Coca Cola had worked closely with airport personnel and other authorities to ensure security and a scandal-free tour.

FIFA regulations governing this tour allow only African heads of state to touch the trophy that arrives at 7pm tomorrow.

The Minister of Education and Sports Namirembe Bitamazire will receive it before it makes its way to Serena where Museveni will receive it.

The public will then view the trophy at the Lugogo Cricket Oval on Sunday.

Over ten artists, including Bobi Wine, GNL, have been lined up to entertain fans, who will also have the opportunity of taking souvenir photos with the trophy. They will also be able to view special 3-D movies showcasing memorable moments of the World Cup.

Uganda will be the 37th nation to host the trophy on its 70-day Africa tour.
