MAKERERE University has dropped its academic registrar, bursar and secretary following the end of their terms of office.

The university, through interviews conducted by the university’s appointments board, replaced the academic registrar, Amos Olal-Odur, with Wasike Namowa. Namowa has been the deputy registrar in charge of graduate studies.

He is also a member of the university council. The bursar, Ben Byambabazi, was replaced by Joshua Karamagi.

Karamagi has been working with the Ministry of Finance as an assistant commissioner for financial management services. David Muhweezi is the new secretary, replacing Sam Akorimo. Akorimo has been holding the secretary position for five years.

He was the assistant secretary in charge of pensions at the university before being appointed secretary.

Muhweezi has been the acting senior assistant bursar in charge of financial reporting.

Two months ago, the university advertised the top administration posts,
including that for the vice-chancellor and his two deputies, which were filled last month on temporary terms.

The university spokesperson, Gilbert Kadilo, said: “The incumbent officials’ contracts of service expired, and interviews were held for new appointments.”

He added that the university would soon officially announce the appointment of the new officials.
