EDITOR—On October 3, The Saturday Vision published an article entitled “Half marriages not recognised”.

The article carried a list of non-traditional churches licensed to conduct Christian weddings. We assume there was no malice or ill-intent but Makerere Full Gospel Church was omitted from that list.

Makerere Full Gospel Church was licensed to conduct Christian marriages on April 26, 1963 under licence 488 of 1963. Thousands of couples have had their weddings conducted in Makerere Full Gospel Church for close to 50 years.

The omission of the church from the list of churches licensed to conduct weddings has caused and continues to cause unnecessary anxiety and panic among many couples and the general public. It has affected at least two generations of Ugandans.
