AFTER winning the World Aids Day championship a fortnight ago in Kenya, Ivan Byekwaso turns his attention to the Mr. Uganda championship to be held at Hotel Africana, December 27.

But he faces a stiff challenge from sliver medallist in the Kenya event, Mubarak Kizito, Stephen Sserumaga, Andrew Kibirige and experienced Ismail ‘Mafufungu’ Mukalazi in the biggest body building event on the local scene.

Byekwaso though is not worried and says he is fitter than ever. “I have a secret that will keep me winning on top of the experience I have gained internationally,” he said after workout.

The annual event originally set for Sabrinas Pub was shifted to Hotel Africana after the hotel offered to foot the bill for the venue, a big relief to the financially struggling Uganda Body Building and Fitness Association. Over 60 contestants will compete in the nine weight categories.

UK-based former body builder David Ssebyala has donated trophies worth sh4m to be competed for.
