AFTER treating us to love and its issues in their previous plays, drama group, The Ebonies, are set to unveil their new play tomorrow 4:45pm.

A quandary is the extreme form of a dilemma. Showing throughout the festive season, the play, is based on the life of journalist Paul Jjingo, who left university burning up with a strict code of professional ethics.

And as far as he is concerned, the journalism trade out there follows all these principles to the letter.

Lo-and-behold, your journalist gets a job at this very popular tabloid, where the last time anyone had of ethics was back at school several years ago.

At this publication, they ride on the back of speculation and sensationalism, which sell a lot more than your mundane cross-checked facts.

The newspaper’s owner Mr. Ssenkaali (Sam Bagenda), is your typical business man who is as corrupt as they come, while his wife (Fauzia Nakiboneka), also the editor-in-chief, learnt from the best — by osmosis.

Now your poor journalist, who has a wife and a million kids to feed back home, is in quandary. Should he uphold the professional ethics and his family dies hungry? Or should he just roll with the flow?

But then again, sensationalism has repercussions, especially when big-shot untouchables have been slighted. What’s the worst that can happen? Are some stories worth dying for?

Spiced with lots of sub-plots including dance, love-scenes and interesting scenarios captured on the group’s recent trip to the US, Europe and Dubai, Quandary: Ndigida, though about journalism, indirectly also tackles other professions, ultimately posing the question — where do you draw the line?
