Bishop tips on market days
MUKONO - Church-founded primary schools should be closed on market days, the assistant bishop of Kampala Diocese has advised. Zac Niringiye, who is the Church of Uganda education board chairman, observed that allowing pupils to go to markets would help them pick interest and get business skills at an early stage. He said pupils who drop out of school could easily venture into business if they are exposed to it early instead of becoming idle and redundant. Niringiye made the remarks on Friday while officiating at the opening of the two-day workshop for head teachers at the Uganda Christian University in Mukono.

1,000 residents get treatment
WAKISO - A total of 1,000 residents of Kyengera have received free medical care. The one-week health awareness campaign was conducted by Kampala Mother Baby Medical Centre. The Wakiso district Woman MP, Rosemary Sseninde, closed the campaign on Friday. She observed that the provision of free services would minimise health problems in the area. Sseninde advised the residents to utilise the services offered by health centres in the area before rushing to Mulago and Mengo hospitals for treatment. The director of the centre, Eric Karambasaizi, said they partner with health facilities in Kyengera, Nabbingo and Rubaga in providing medical services to the locals.
