THE Netherlands Government and the World Food Programme (WFP) will construct a total of 480 housing units for teachers in 80 primary schools in Nebbi and Arua districts, writes Ronald Kalyango.

The three-year project will cost $5.2m (about sh9b). The Netherlands will contribute $4.3m (about sh7b), and WFP $882,700 worth of food for the people building the houses and planting trees.

“The good news for Ugandan farmers is the fact that WFP will buy the food directly from the farmers and traders,” Tesema Negash, the WFP country director said.

This was at the inauguration of the project at the ministry of education offices in Kampala recently.
