ALTHOUGH it was a Friday night, the mood in the Uganda Manufacturers’ Association (UMA) Exhibition Hall in Lugogo was charged for a Sunday service.

The collective impact of worship was felt when the 300 guests prayed, praised and sang their hearts out as The AIDS Support Organisation (TASO) held a thanks giving dinner to commemorate 20 years of service.

It was not a night of speeches, but a few people gave moving testimonies.
The TASO Christian Fellowship Choir was also at handy with songs that soothed the souls of the guests.

The night was charged further when the Rev. Dr. John Senyonyi, the vice chancellor of the Uganda Christian University, Mukono stepped on the floor.

“In whatever you do, eat or drink do so in the glory of God. The chief end of man is to glorify God,” he said. His speech was so moving that the audience was left speechless.

“The secret of enjoying life is glorifying God. Our God is the source of every blessing,” Senyonyi asserted. This was just before the Agape Fellowship meal was served to the guests.

The chief guest, ethics and integrity minister Dr. James Nsaba Buturo, hailed TASO for spearheading the fight against HIV/AIDS. “I commend you for being God-fearing. TASO has changed the face of Ugandans. Lets use this occasion to thank God for what we are today,” he said.

As usual, Buturo urged Christians and Ugandans to shun homosexuality which he described as “a dangerous vice”.
The director of TASO, Robert Ochai, said they were supporting 80,000 people living with HIV/AIDS.
