THE FUFA executive committee has reduced assistant referee Michael Isabirye’s suspension from 18 to 12 months effective January 28.

Swalley Kenyi
reports that the federation’s referees standing committee last year recommended an 18-month suspension for Isabirye for allegedly disallowing a genuine Villa goal against Victors at Nakivubo stadium on December 5.

Isabirye’s action sparked off hooliganism and the match aborted while Victors led 2-1. FUFA competitions committee awarded them maximum points.

FUFA publicist Rogers Mulindwa said that the executive committee found the 18-month punishment too harsh and they decided to reduce it.

Meanwhile, Ugandan FIFA referee Fred Mufta will handle the MTN CAF Champions League match between Burundi’s Vital’O and Cotton Sport of Cameroon in Bujumbura on February 16.
He will be assisted by Samuel Kayondo and Yahya Kiti while Kenyan Ali Hafidi is match commissioner.
